The Dale & Frances Hughes Cancer Center provides a full line of cancer treatment services to patients throughout the Pocono Region and surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide the most technologically advanced cancer therapy and treatment in order to offer every patient the optimal chance for cure.
Our team of experienced physicians and staff are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art cancer treatment and therapy as well as information on prevention and screening, educational programs, social services, nutritional and dietary information, and more, offering you the most extensive Pocono cancer care available.
The Hughes Cancer Center is home to the most advanced radiation therapy equipment to treat cancer. The Cancer Treatment Center brings added capabilities for treating cancer, including the power to deliver higher, more precise doses of radiation to cancerous cells using a breakthrough technique called Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
Like IGRT, IMRT is revolutionizing cancer care and is believed to be the biggest advance in radiation oncology in 30 years. It represents the first use of computer technology to optimize the delivery of radiation. The Hughes Cancer Center was one of the first cancer centers nationwide to offer this technology. You can be confident that Hughes Cancer Center offers the most current treatments and technology available in PA. Colon cancer treatment, along with our other treatment regimens, is administered by experienced specialists with the latest techniques and technology.
Other advanced treatments, such as stereostatic radiation therapy, are also available from Hughes Cancer Center. Stereostatic radiation therapy involves sophisticated imaging that allows for pinpoint accuracy of radiation treatment. Technicians can therefore apply more potent bursts of radiation with a more minimized risk of damaging surrounding tissue.
The Center also offers prostate seed implantation, similar to brachytherapy, allowing for precise treatment of cancer in the prostate gland. We have been performing implantation of prostate seeds since 1996 and currently serve as a large referral source for patients from many states and countries.
The Hughes Cancer Center is a member of the Jefferson Cancer Network, which provides the oncology specialists at the Hughes Cancer Center with access to the latest proven treatment protocols as well as specialized educational programs and conferences. For individuals in and around PA, breast cancer treatment and education is easily accessible. The Hughes Cancer Center is a department of Pocono Medical Center, which is part of the Pocono Health System.
The Hughes Cancer Center is a member of the Pocono Health System (PHS). PHS manages several healthcare subsidiaries to collectively provide services to residents and visitors of Monroe County and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
